Pastor Phil’s Sermon for March 22, 2020
Who sinned that this man was born blind? These few short words are an expression of a very human inclination to try to understand a complicated world in an oversimplified way. Sometimes people are born without the ability to see or walk. Sometimes we lose those abilities through illness or accident. Sometimes, bad things happen. And when they do, when we are exposed to chaos, we want to try to find some order. We want to understand it, so that we can control it. And so we make connections that aren’t there, so that we can believe we have control.
