Worship
Our worship follows the ancient form of the liturgy (which means work of the people). At each service you can expect a few songs, an opportunity to hear the word of forgiveness for sins, the speaking of the Apostles’ Creed, Holy Communion, and other elements of traditional worship. Everything is printed in the bulletin for your convenience so participating in our service is very easy for first time guests. Although our service is more formal than services at some Churches, we still like to have fun. The atmosphere at our services is very friendly and relaxed. There is no need to wear a suit and tie or fancy dress! Come as you are and experience God’s presence as God comes to us in the ancient and beautiful order of Word and Sacrament.
Music
In 1868 a Pastor named Robert Lowry wrote a hymn, which asked: “Since Christ is Lord of heaven and Earth, how can I keep from singing?” That phrase perfectly describes how we feel about music here at First Lutheran. We celebrate the gift of music not primarily as an opportunity to perform but rather as an expression of our deepest joy that Christ has done great things for us. We look forward to you adding your voice to our joyful noise, whether singing in our congregation, in our chancel choir, or in our bell choir.
Children are an important part of our worship, both as participants and leaders, and are always welcome in worship services. Childcare is available during our later service.
Confirmation/First Communion Instruction
A two-year program of Confirmation instruction is offered to youth who are junior high school age. Parents can decide when it is appropriate for their child to receive their First Communion. If you or your child(ren) are interested in Confirmation or First Communion, please contact the church to speak with Pastor.
