Indoor, in-person Worship Services are being held at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the main Sanctuary.

Welcome! It is my joy to serve as Pastor for this very special congregation. Our identity as a church has grown out of several important factors. First, we have a long and rich tradition of welcome and inclusiveness. For decades, people who may have felt excluded from other faith communities because of their sexuality or gender identity have found a home here at First Lutheran. That sense of our calling to welcome in the name of Jesus informs everything we do together. No difference among people is a barrier to our unity in faith and service.

Secondly, we believe that the experience of beauty is transformative. This is seen and heard most clearly in our musical life together. Some of the music we sing as a congregation or hear from our choir or jazz ensemble is brand new, and some of it is hundreds of years old, but no matter the style our music lifts spirits to an experience of God’s presence. We believe that God gave us music so that we could know God better through it, and we celebrate that every Sunday.

Finally, our identity as a congregation is formed by our deep commitment to our youth. Through education, fellowship, and worship our youth program brings joy and knowledge of God’s word to our youngest members. There are Churches with larger youth programs, but here at First our children get to know each other, their teachers, and their Pastor and learn what it truly means to be Church together. I don’t think there is anything that could be a better investment for their future than that.

When Nathaniel was wondering about Jesus’ ministry, the Apostle Philip, rather than arguing a case, said simply, “Come and see.” I hope that you too will come and see what God is up to here at First Lutheran. I know that you will find a great blessing here as I have.
