Second Sunday after Epiphany

I remember playing outside behind my great-grandfather’s old house with my uncle James. And I remember asking him, “Who is this God I keep hearing about from the preachers on TV?” This being back in the time when we only got four channels and sometimes preaching was the most interesting thing on, even for a child. And I remember James telling me that God was the one who made everything that exists. I wasn’t thinking at that time that one day it would be my turn to answer questions about God though I think my own children’s questions are more inventive than mine ever were. It’s a humbling transition to move from being the asker of big questions to the answerer. [To hear the entire sermon, click on the arrow above.]
