Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost

There’s an old saying that goes that at the dinner table there are two things you can never talk about: religion and politics. I was once sitting at a table at a wedding rehearsal dinner with a young man I had just met who told me right away that there was nothing more boring than another man’s religion. Given that that eliminated me being able to talk about my job or a lot of other things about my life, and being the polite Southern boy that I am, it meant that I got to listen to him talk about his work in computer science for two hours straight. While I respect his opinion, I came to believe over that two-hour period that there is something more boring than another man’s religion and that is another man’s work in computer science.
