Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost

As I was waiting in the car line at Leawood Elementary to drop off Sean and Zoe the other day. [By the way, now that school is back in, a lot more of my sermon illustrations are going to begin with: “As I was waiting in the car line…” because that’s where I spend all of my time now.] As I was waiting in the car line, Zoe and Sean were debating the existence of aliens. And Zoe rightly asserted that not even our scientists know for sure whether or not there are aliens, even though they know just about everything, because they’re always studying in their books. And I said, “That’s right. Some of what the scientists know, they know because they learned it from books. They learned it from what other people knew. But what makes a scientist is that they apply the scientific method.…” [To hear the entire sermon, click on the arrow above.]
