Christ the King Sunday

When they came to that place called The Skull, there they crucified him. From the perspective of the world, it’s a pretty odd way to begin the gospel on this day that we call Christ the King. Today is the final day of the liturgical year; the church begins its new year with the first Sunday of Advent. And so on this final day of our year, after we’ve gone through another cycle of remembrance, rehearsing again the story of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, resurrection, hearing again the struggles, blessings, and questions, and growths of the early church, we end our year celebrating that when all is said and done, Christ is King.
