Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

 

Three texts and three questions to answer on this seventh Sunday after Pentecost. In our first reading the prophet Ezekiel is called by the term mortal. That was not — and is not — a common way to address people. You don’t say, “Hello, Mortal. How are you, Mortal?” And yet that is how Ezekiel is addressed by God as he is set on his path to bring the word to God’s stubborn and rebellious people — us, in other words.
