First Sunday of Advent

Penitance. It’s one of those church words that doesn’t get used a lot in the world, but it means being sorrowful for our ill actions and taking steps to live differently. It’s related to the Greek word metanoia, the word that John the Baptist used for what people should do since the kingdom of God was at hand: and that is repent. Turn around. Change direction. Renew one’s life in the light of a new day of righteousness. Renew oneself because God is about to do something amazing. [To hear the entire sermon, click on the arrow above.]
